SWAN

Wednesday, February 21 at 8 PM - 10 PM

Spectrum - 70 Flushing Avenue, Garage A, Brooklyn, New York 11205

Qubit New Music presents Ensemble Dal Niente at Spectrum with a program centered around Boston-based Turkish composer Murat Çolak’s epic SWAN for septet, conductor, and electronics, which Çolak describes as "an ecstatic multimedia experience...SWAN is about going out: going out to the street, to the club, to a ritual, to a party or a funeral. It’s about getting out of home, the studio, the institution, going to places where people connect and do things, sing, dance, laugh, cry, perform, and celebrate.”

Dal Niente will also perform Shadow for piano solo by Rebecca Saunders, whose subtle, zen-like works turn sound into sculpture; Alican Çamci's Perde for bass flute and harp, where snippets of poetry by 15th century poet Ahmed-i Daî are transformed and reflected through a kaleidoscope of instrumental effects; and Chicago composer Jonathan Hannau's Beyond the looking glass for harp + two players.
